Having worked in the driving school business, I first started as a franchisee for one of the big schools.
In 2016, I launched my own driving school in the Midlands then relocated to Cornwall and rebuilt my business from scratch.
In 2020 I designed this service based on what I believe instructors are looking for, with all of the following:
A fair weekly fee
Still trade under your own driving school name
Earn discounts off your fees
No lengthy Contract
Able to opt out of introductory offers
Capped number of instructors per postcode
No requirement to use our car livery or roof sign
First 2 weeks half price
Full call centre and online booking system
Our fees are based on the equivalent of what you charge a pupil for a standard 1.5 hour lesson each week, charged weekly or monthly, based on 50 weeks per year, leaving you with the equivalent of 2 free weeks for holidays. Your fees will always be based on this meaning our fees will only increase when lesson prices increase. There are no charges for pupils introduced to you.
Example: If you charge £30 per hour your monthly fee would be £187.50 (£45 per week)
Or if you prefer you can pay weekly, for an additional fee of £2 per week.
There is no start up fee, and fees are due on the 15th of the month.
You will need your own car, if you haven’t got you own car suitable for driving tuition, there are a number of options available for example you could buy a new or used car, a number of main dealers offer driving school packages or there are a number of companies that offer tuition lease cars.
We operate using a rolling monthly contract should you ever wish to leave, all we require is a minimum of 4 weeks notice. You also get to keep the pupils that we have introduced to you and we won’t charge you for this.
We will never take on too many Instructors, we want our Instructors to be busy, that’s why we have capped the number of Instructors per postcode to a maximum of 3 manual and 3 automatic, in towns and cities, with a maximum of 1 manual and 1 automatic in rural areas. Plus once an Instructor has signed up, we will not take on anymore in that area, until that Instructor has built up and maintained a diary for at least 3 months.
A lot of Instructors like the idea of running their own driving school, most other driving school franchises expect you to trade under their name, when in effect you are just paying them a fee for a service to support your own business, while they still expect you to get your own pupils. If you did wish to use our branding then this will be discussed.
Our driving school is different, you are paying us a service fee, and in return we provide your business with extra support, all we ask is you make clear that you are working in association with Roadstar Driving School.
We will advertise on your behalf using social media and internet search engines.
We don’t require you to use our driving school livery, you can even use your own driving school livery providing you also have “Working in Association with Roadstar Driving School.
Earn £2.50 off your fees each month for each of the following: Test pass photo for our website and facebook, and top reviews on Facebook, Google. Upto a maximum of £10 per month.
Recommend another Instructor to join us and you will receive £75 after they have stayed 3 months with us.
Using the services of a 3rd party we have a call centre which takes call Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays. We also have a full online booking system.
If we decide to introduce any introductory offers, you have the option to opt out, it will always be your choice whether to take part or not.
